Managing Director
Executive Experience
Alan Zammit has over 50 years experience in urban, regional and community development. As managing director of UPDM Pty Limited, Alan offers corporate and property advisory services with an emphasis on strategic planning and corporate governance.
Between 1992 and 2006, Alan was managing director of Mulpha Norwest Pty Limited, transforming a brick manufacturing company into a diverse property developer delivering award-winning urban outcomes. In this role, Alan was responsible for the planning, development, marketing and sale of Norwest Business Park in Sydney, Australia.

To 1992, Alan Zammit was a senior manager and executive director of land development, home building and real estate agency companies in the former Hooker group.
Non-Executive Roles
In 2012, Alan Zammit was appointed as an independent, non-executive director of ASX-200 Aveo Group Limited, Australia’s largest retirement living and care provider. Alan stepped down from this role in 2014 having been invited back to Mulpha Norwest as Board Chair for three years to assist in the transformation of the development portfolio within the Mulpha Australia Group.
Alan Zammit acts as a non-executive director of Wentwest Limited (Western Sydney Primary Health Network), chairs the Board of Norwest Association Limited and serves as Chair or independent member of the Audit and Risk Committees for a number of NSW government agencies including NSW Health Infrastructure and Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust.
Alan’s previous non-executive roles included acting as a member of the national board of Edmund Rice Education Australia, as a director of Evolve Housing Limited, Centacare Evolve Housing Limited in Tasmania and Rouse Hill Infrastructure Pty Limited.
Alan Zammit was a former member of the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board and chaired the Western Sydney Regional Development Organisation. Alan has been a member of the Board of Western Sydney Parklands Trust and his lasting commitment to Western Sydney is evidenced by his 20 years’ association with Western Sydney University with roles including chair of the University’s Foundation, member of the University’s Nepean Council, member of the Board of Trustees’ Strategy and Resources Committee and chair of the University’s Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Alan Zammit’s pursuit of excellence in urban development has seen him acting for four years as a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s judging panel for Awards for Excellence in NSW and as chair of the judging panel for the UDIA’s national awards for a further eight years.
Qualifications
With formal qualifications in accounting, business, local government administration and real estate, Alan Zammit has also attended Australian Graduate School of Management general management and marketing management programs and governance courses conducted by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Alan Zammit is a Fellow of CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a licensed real estate agent and member of the Urban Land Institute.
Alan was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 2009, made an honorary Fellow of Western Sydney University in 2016, awarded the Allen Vogan Distinguished Service Award by Urban Development Institute of Australia National Council in 2018 and awarded Life Membership of UDIA in 2021.
